A software program developer has been arrested and faces rates for allegedly putting destructive code on his employer’s laptop servers, the Justice Section experiences.

A federal grand jury in Cleveland returned an indictment charging Davis Lu, 51, of Houston, Texas, with one count of harming protected personal computers.

Officers say Lu was used as a senior developer with an unnamed firm based in Cleveland. In August 2019, the organization was the sufferer of a denial of assistance (DoS) assault when production servers crashed and staff had been unable to access the servers. The indictment suggests an investigation observed unauthorized code set up on the server, which triggered that server to develop an infinite loop and crash.

Lu was questioned to return his organization-issued laptop or computer. Officers say ahead of he did, he deleted encrypted volumes and attempted to delete Linux directories as properly as two added projects.
